Commenting on the new partnership, Muzzaffar Hayat Piracha, Director of Select Technologies, said, “Our collaboration with Xiaomi is a wonderful development not just for the company but for Pakistan. Xiaomi is a world-class technology giant and market leader in the field of innovative technology that isn’t restricted just to mobile phones.”
“This project will open many possibilities as the manufacturing of smartphones is the first step toward an even bigger goal. My mission is to put Pakistan on the world’s technological map by ensuring top-quality services and products for every Pakistan region. We are not just localizing manufacturing, but this will in turn boost exports of Pakistan and assist us in playing our part in reducing import cost,” he added.
Businesses worldwide consider Pakistan’s mobile market to be an emerging market offering a variety of business opportunities. Since the introduction of 3G/4G technology, there’s been an increase in the number of subscribers to mobile operators.
To capitalize on this opportunity, mobile companies are providing customers with a wider selection of smartphones priced at lower costs in the lower-end range. The initiative is expected to generate more than 550 million dollars.
The massive production capacity will not just create new employment opportunities for residents of Pakistan; however, it will aid in reducing Pakistan’s import costs and open up new opportunities in international business.
